Things to note before removing MyShake:

  1. The developer of MyShake is University of California, Berkeley and all inquiries must go to them.
  2. Check the Terms of Services and/or Privacy policy of University of California, Berkeley to know if they support self-serve account deletion:
  3. The GDPR gives EU and UK residents a "right to erasure" meaning that you can request app developers like University of California, Berkeley to delete all your data it holds. University of California, Berkeley must comply within 1 month.
  4. The CCPA lets American residents request that University of California, Berkeley deletes your data or risk incurring a fine (upto $7,500 dollars).

Deleting from Smartphone 📱


Delete on iPhone:


  1. On your homescreen, Tap and hold MyShake until it starts shaking.
  2. Once it starts to shake, you'll see an X Mark at the top of the app icon.
  3. Click on that X to delete the MyShake app.

Delete on Android:


  1. Open your GooglePlay app and goto the menu.
  2. Click "My Apps and Games" » then "Installed".
  3. Choose MyShake, » then click "Uninstall".

1. The MyShake app -- developed by the UC Berkeley Seismology Lab, sponsored by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services -- was the first app powered by ShakeAlert® to provide statewide earthquake early warning alerts in California.

2. MyShake provides earthquake early warnings in California, Oregon, and Washington for estimated magnitude 4.5 earthquakes and higher to phones in the light- heavy shaking areas.

3. The app is one of the delivery modes of the California Earthquake Early Warning System.

4. Alerts will not go out for all felt events, just damaging ones.
